Important Facts to Know Before Getting a Liposuction

Many men and women have thought about getting an abdominoplasty or tummy tuck procedure. This is a very important surgery which should not be done without extensive forethought. For example, if a woman gets a tummy tuck before she has children, the surgery will often have to be repeated to re-strengthen the sagging muscle. When searching for a quality surgeon to perform a tummy tuck Newport Beach residents will often look to the internet for information. While this can be a great way to research surgeons in the area, one should always speak with the surgeon before agreeing to the procedure. Additionally, this is one aspect of life where it is not a good idea to go to the cheapest surgeon. This surgery takes skill on the part of the plastic surgeon and it is important to research credentials and licensing before choosing a doctor. In addition, an experienced surgeon can advise individuals whether they should get a complete abdominoplasty or a mini abdominoplasty.

When one thinks of liposuction Orange County is often one of the first areas which come to mind. Because there is such a high demand for the procedure in this area there are many surgeons to research. There are some surgeons who only focus on liposuctions, but a surgeon should have the proper credentials either way. When choosing an Orange County cosmetic surgeon, many people like to look at the before and after pictures which most surgeons post on their websites. This can be a good indication of what the results will look like. When performing a tummy tuck, an incision is made above the pubic line. The exact length and shape of the incision varies with the individual. The flap is separated from the abdominal wall and then stretched abdominal muscles and loose tissue are stitched together in the correct position. The surgeon will also remove excess skin and fatty tissue. The entire procedure usually lasts between two and five hours. Sometimes the patient must be hospitalized for a night or two after the procedure. Like any surgical procedure, tummy tucks are very traumatic for the body and the patient must rest and take it easy after it is done. It is certainly not a simple outpatient procedure and can take a long time to heal.

One of the most important things to do following a liposuction procedure is to follow the surgeon’s post-operation instructions! Most patients are instructed not to return to work for 1-2 weeks. How well you follow the surgeon’s instructions will often directly reflect on the quality of results and how long it takes to recover. For example, the patient must watch the incision points closely for infection. It is often difficult for Orange county tummy tuck patients to take it easy for a couple weeks because of their fast-paced lifestyles.

  1. While both are surgical procedures I would think that Tummy Tuck Surgery would be a little more invasive than Liposuction Surgery.
